Uxmal Light Show

We are parked overnight in the parking lot/RV area at the Uxmal Ruins about 55 miles south of Merida in the middle of the Yucatan Peninsula. Uxmal is a impressive ruin and makes the top ten list as far as we are concerned. And the light show on a balmy evening was spectacular! The music, the Mayan storytelling and the lighting were choreographed at least to our eye, perfectly.
Lighting was used expertly to highlight reliefs on the side of temples. In the sunlight this serpent was difficult to discern. At the light show it almost came to life.
The Light show opened by telling the story of the drought and famine that had plagued the population. It portrayed the prayers and the ceremonies used to conjure the god of rain Cha begging him for good rain. Good rain was defined as not being accompanied by a hurricane or lightening.
Chicen. With great fanfare light and music we were carried away as the Noble from Chicen road in on his stead during her wedding ceremony and carried the fair princess away to his kingdom. Hopefully despite the bitter battles that followed because of his action they lived happily ever after.
Bravo to everyone responsible on the preformance!
