A Couple Cenotes Swim

Cenotes are really just sink holes, but what sink holes they are!  The Yucatan has no surface rivers.  Rain water filters down through the limestone surface and forms some really amazing bodies of water.  Some 3.000 of them. They can be surface Cenotes in the form of ponds or wells, or hidden down in caves.

Here we are descending into a cave Cenote known as Dzitnup.

The water in Dzitnup was a beautiful crystal turquoise.  Ron, Skip and Helen shared a  pleasant swim with several other tourists.

Across the road from Dzitnup was the Cave Cenote Samula
Samula and Dzitnup are located between Valladolid and Chichen Itza.

Helen appears to have enjoyed her dip in a Cave Cenote!
