MIDAIR ANGELS

TRAUMA OVER PERU

At the Myuna Lodge on the Amazon  we shared a bottle of wine with  a delightful young couple who were taking some R&R on the river after volunteering with a Trauma Unit in Hati.

Angels come in many forms and yesterday on our flight between Iquitoes and Lima, Angels took the form of that  young married couple from Nanaimo, BC.

There was a young mother from Iquitoes or the Amazon  seated across the aisle in row 13.  The mother was taking her 3 month old little girl to Lima for treatment for a congenital heart condition.  This little baby girl was so beautiful.  Ron keep watching her and cooing trying to get her to smile.  About 1 hour into the 2 hour flight she started to fuss and mama, herself maybe just out of her teens became distraught.  The baby started to turn blue.   The flight crew declared a medical emergency and the plane immediately began a descent toward Lima.

Molly and Curtis were sitting behind the baby in row 14 they jumped right in to help.  As the pilots were cleared for a emergency landing Molly and Curtis worked to keep the baby alive during the eternity it took to land and taxi to the waiting ambulance.  The baby was just barley breathing on her on when the para medics took over.

Molly and Curtis it has been a pleasure to have briefly spent a bit of my life with the two of you.  Thank You for all the volunteer work you do.  And thank you to all the medical Angels of the world all the Firefighters, Policemen, Military, Nurses, Medics and Doctors who take the time "off the clock" to offer aid to those in need.
