ALONG THE AMAZON

INTO THE AMAZON

We do not really know what to expect as we watch our luggage being hoisted and tied down on top of the 12 passenger steel hulled river boat.

We are visiting the Amazon near the end of the rainy season so lets hope we can travel the 3 hours to our lodge with out our luggage getting wet.

There are eight new excited river rats aboard what is referred to as a fast boat.  Besides the six of us there are two young women from the oil fields of  Alberta Canada.

We are going into the Jungle with what we hope will be a weeks worth of groceries.  The lodges web site says we will be enjoying a Amazonian Cuisine.  I suspect that means we will be eating a lot of fish.

The shores of the Amazon around Iquitoes is alive with maritime business...
This industries river side activity will soon give way to  slower more substance oriented life style

The Amazon is amazing with the small boats coming by taking bananas to town and the locals traveling in the passenger boats with their hammocks hung up and laying in them. Wait till you see the pink dolphins and eat piranha.
