SUNRISE GAME DRIVE

 SUNRISE GAME DRIVE

We were at the meeting area at 4:45  for the 5am sunrise drive.    The weather looked like it would warm up nicely and we would actually have a comfortable drive.  This drive lasts about 3 hours,  on previous drives the temperatures were a wee bit chilly and we had to wrap ourselves in blankets to stay warm.  No blankets today.

A young elephant stripping a small tree of branches to eat the leaves was our first encounter.

The  Baboon's were still sleeping in the trees.

The sunrise gave the rhino a rosy glow.

Giraffes were in abundance.  I think they are my favorite.

We at this point had seen most of the  animals in the park but we really wanted to see the elusive Leopard.  Well.... we were rewarded in spades, no make that aces!!  Not only did we spot the Leopard but a Leopard kill.  This was not the usual Leopard kill.... according to our game driver the Leopard had made his kill but before he could drag it up a tree out of the reach of the Lion, the  Lion appeared, chased the Leopard up to the top of this tree.  We could see the Lion enjoying lunch at the Leopards expense right below the tree!

Much more to share  but I am with out a power post as they say here and my battery is running low.  More to come later.
