INTO THE AMAZON FOR TOURISTS
Muyuna Lodge is 80 miles from the nearest city we traveled around 40 miles a hour in the "fast boat" to reach here.
We are all very happy with the Lodge. It is just as advertised on their web page.
Our visit is in the wet season so all buildings are in the water. Notice the water line on the white bark in the for ground of the picture. Last year there were record rains and all buildings were flooded. Wouldn't have liked to be there then!
Since this is the rainy season, approaching the lodge by water is the only option and it is a pretty one. There are 17 cottages, a dinning and recreation lodge and a bunk house for employees all linked by a covered walk ways.
Each cabin has an attached hammock porch which was put to good use.
All meals were served at a specific time and were buffet style. The group visiting during the week we were there was a varied one. Varied both in nationality, age and the number of days staying. I think the most guests at one time during our stay was 12 and the least was 8. We were by far the oldest in fact we could easily have been almost every ones grandparents. The group was a interesting one made up of Frenchmen, Brits, Spaniards, Russians and Canadians as well as Peruvians from Lima. We were told that guests from the United States are in the minority,
The Cottages were very open air with blue mosquito screens. The bathrooms were all tile with stylish fixtures. So for being structurally no more than a garden shed it was very posh and comfortable. The almost open air sleeping left us rested each morning and ready for the 4 excursions offered each day
