Lake Havasu

We are spending most of the winter on the California side of Lake Havasu at Black Meadow Landing.  We are located  at the end of the road from Parker Dam and life is very laid back and peaceful.

We and our neighbors  built a fire pit on the ledge in front of our motor homes.  From this perch high above the lake we  gather to enjoy visiting while watching  the setting sun turn the landscape into a kaleidoscope  of  lavender and orange.

Sunset social hours around the new fire pit requires something other than congenial friends....firewood.  Firewood is not sold on every street corner in the desert, so we  jump into our Jeep and Ken and Betty's 4 wheel drive pickup and head out into the Whipple Mountains  in search of  wood stranded in the washes by the summer monsoons.

This trip we were rewarded with more than firewood.  We had heard that the Whipple mountains which surrounds Black Meadow Landing is  Big Horn Sheep habitat, but had never spotted them,  We were running with top off  the Jeep, which made  it easier to spot the  5 Sheep high above us on the top of the ridge.

Life is so rewarding!
