IN SEARCH OF DINNER

WHERE'S RAY'S?
At one time Ray's was very easy to find.
When you felt the urge for a 4 star meal in much less than a 4 star building you would just drive south down the Baja Peninsula for 637  miles to the Village of Mulege.  You would then drive a few more  miles south and you would have found  Ray's Beach Shack Restaurant sitting on a beautiful crescent beach on the Bay of Conception.

After a fire destroyed the beach shack Ray rebuild his restaurant
not on the beach but somewhere past the water plant.  You must follow the trail of arrows down a sandy path toward the mountains outside the Village of Mulege.

Past the date Palms

Toward the Mountains

Turn right before the Mountains

Turn left and avoid the sand.

Right again

At last we are getting close.
In case you missed the last sign.

Ray is the gentleman standing, he came to Mexico from Cuba by way of San Diego  to become legendary on the Baja for his food.

We started our meal with a goat cheese first course followed by these Oysters Rockefeller.
A Green Salad followed.

The entree we all enjoyed was the most tender and luscious Calamari Steak ever.  The shrimp were stuffed with scallops and cheese, then wrapped in bacon before being grilled. Delicious!  As usual after a feast of this size and a couple of Margaritas we had no room to sample his desert offering.

Now for the task of finding our way back to Mulege.........
